Food Ministry

St. Paul’s Church has been involved with many food programs. Presently we are helping the C.A.N. (Cambria Anonymous Neighbors) food program by contributing food, cash, and volunteers. Through C.A.N., food is provided for Cambria’s low income seniors, large families, the homeless, and a few transients. Any one in need of food receives it.

Members of St. Paul’s Church bring canned and boxed food to church each Sunday, and this food is brought to the altar as part of the congregation’s Sunday offering. Members also make cash contributions. The cash is forwarded to C.A.N. for its food purchases; the food is stored at St. Paul’s until the first Thursday of each month, when volunteers take it to the Joslyn Adult Recreation Center.

At the Joslyn Center St. Paul’s volunteers help sack food contributed by the congregation, along with the food purchased by C.A.N., food donated by the Cookie Crock Market, and food from other local organizations. Volunteers dig into boxes of staples, produce, milk, butter, eggs and sometimes meat to distribute the contents to sacks for the hungry; some months there are 250 sacks or more. The food sacked by St. Paul’s and C.A.N. volunteers feeds approximately 50 local families.
