Hey, I want my 8 A.M. Service
back!
Yeah, and I want my 10:30 A.M. service
back!
The vestry has decided to continue having a single Sunday morning
service at 9:30 A.M. for the next two months. (This is not
intended to be a permanent change.) Obviously this offers everyone an
opportunity for re-adjustment and sacrifice for the health of the
congregation during the challenge of “interim” time. “Eight
o’clockers” will have to wait an extra hour and a half to get
their Sunday started, and the 10:30 folk will have to jump-start their
Sunday by an hour. There will adjustments all around. And
we will all get the chance to work and worship together as the diverse
Body of Christ that we are called to be.
During the month of January we have all experienced
the amazing strength of our congregation as we have worshiped
together. Visitors and members alike have commented on
this. The coffee hours have brought together people from the two
separate services, and there has been a new energy and aliveness to our
fellowship.
Three years ago, our Presbyterian neighbors were
forced to move to a single service for a year while their church was
being rebuilt. They experienced cramped quarters, folding chairs
and even a bit of grumbling, but they also grew stronger and healthier
as a congregation.
So, let us all come together and support our Vestry,
Search Committee, clergy and one another over these next months.
May we all grow in our trust of the God who leads us and is with us, as
we expectantly wait for God’s provision.
