NEWS FROM THE SEARCH COMMITTEE
St. Paul's Search Committee was very pleased to receive the news of the
diocesan appointment of the Rev. Nancy Miller as the new Interim
Deployment Officer for El Camino Real. Nancy Miller is now the Search
Advisor for St. Paul's Cambria as well as Arroyo Grande's St. Barnabas
Church. The committee is glad to be working at full steam once again,
now that Bishop Romero is in place and we have been assigned a new
search advisor. Our first task has been to complete our Parish Search
Request which will be submitted to the Church Deployment Office of the
Episcopal Church Center in New York City by Reverend Miller.
Prior to Christmas, the search committee completed a profile for what
we would like to see in our new rector, in addition to the parish and
community profiles that are now on our church web site
(stpauls@stpaulscambria.org) and are available for mailing to
prospective rectors for St. Paul's. The committee appreciates the
several confidential suggestions we have received, from time to time,
in the suggestion box at the back of the church. To date we have
received inquiries from ten prospective rectors who have expressed an
interest in becoming St. Paul's new rector, 5 women and 5 men. Only two
are from out of state. As we receive communications from these
individuals, we request their profiles from the church deployment
office and resumes from them individually. Once our Parish Search
Request is received by the church's New York office and our listing is
sent out in The Positions Open Listing, we expect to receive additional
interest in St. Paul's, Cambria. At present we are concentrating on
applicants from Province #8, which is primarily the western states.
The committee; Courtney Brockman, Bob Clunie, Anne Hubbard, Barbara
Marks, Carol Schutz and Linda Turner, are looking forward to receiving
all the applicants credentials so that we can study them and eventually
make our recommendations to the Vestry. If you would like to recommend
someone you think would be a great new rector, your committee would
love to hear from you and we thank those who have already done so.
Thank you,
Bill Baker, Chairman
