Hurricane Katrina Relief
Did you know that Episcopal Relief and
Development was on the scene immediately after Hurricane Katrina
devastated the Gulf Coast? ERD support will help the diocese
provide aid to community members through two mobile response trailers,
which are equipped with supplies like chainsaws and generators to
assist in the recovery and they have sent over $800,000 in
funds—probably much more by the time you read this!
Did you know that there is an agency called
Episcopal Migration Ministries? Neither did I until a young women
at St. Luke’s called us together to see if we could offer housing to
one or more families. The result of that meeting was an offer to
EMM to care for a family and a student. So far we have not been
connected with anyone. EMM has been overwhelmed with offers and
is still trying to sort them out. This agency has been helping
relocate refugees in other countries from many years.
