Dear Church Family,
A little windy today but plenty of blossoms hanging tough on our trees and in our border flower beds. I encourage everyone to come walk through our gardens soon. They are in full bloom and those bright purple spires are amazing on the Pride of Madeira bushes! Many thanks to Mary Brockman for overseeing the care of these special grounds.
Here are your important updates for March 30, 2017:
This Saturday: Embracing Forgiveness Workshop: 12:30 pm
Sunday, April 2- One service only, at 9:30 am. Vestry meets afterward…but wait there’s more…
Mutual Ministry Review-This Sunday and once a quarter a vestry member will join you for coffee after the 9:30 service in the Parish Hall to share what is happening with the parish and to seek your input. This Sunday we will share our mutual ministry goals and in particular the two vestry sub-committees that have been established to support our mutual ministry goals. One committee will study additional sources of income for the parish and the other committee will discern what God is calling us to do in terms of a parish mission. The Mutual Ministry Review is a living document which means that it is designed to continually evolve based on your input and experience in working toward our ministry goals. It will always be available to you for review and can be found on the piano in the Parish Hall. So please bring your questions and comments to coffee hour this Sunday.
The Mutual Ministry Review has many stated goals. One particular goal is worth highlighting for its good news. In May, the Vestry will petition Bishop Mary to appoint Fr. Brian as our Rector. His transition from priest-in-charge to our Rector brings canonical affirmation to our shared ministry at St. Paul's.
Busy Bees needed to help with set-up and clean-up on Maundy Thursday and Easter. Help is needed before and after our lamb dinner / Maundy Thursday service on April 13th, and also to set-up or clean-up for each of our festive Easter brunches that will follow our services on April 16th. Please sign up in the Parish Hall if you can help.
Speaking of the Easter brunches… Calling all pastry chefs! We would like to end Lent this year with a spectacular Easter brunch crowned by an array of Easter pastries. Nancy Allen and Father Brian will be preparing the entree and ask that you bring your favorite Easter dessert to top off our meal. Please invite your family and friends to join us for services and brunch (after both services).
Easter tributes-Easter offerings toward sanctuary lilies (benefitting the Altar Guild) or in support of our music program are being accepted through April 9th. Order forms are found in your April 2 Sunday bulletin and your April 9 Gospel insert. Late tributes whether mailed, or dropped off, run the risk of not being printed in the Easter bulletins, so please submit them by the deadline. Thank you.
This is Food Sunday! The monthly food distribution will occur next Thursday, April 6th.
Stations of the Cross booklets are now available for those who have volunteered to read on Good Friday. They are located on the credenza in the church’s entry. Please return them by April 22nd.
This week’s special “shout-out” is going to Frank Schutz, recovering from shoulder surgery, and Fred Stimson who still appreciates and needs our prayers. Warmest regards to you both!

From our retreat guests who spent last Saturday here: Well, the small group of us who were there had a sweet contemplative day. I thought the grounds were even more beautiful than the last time we had a day there! Just splendid!
–Buffy Price, St. Luke’s
Please note: If you know of a group that might be searching for a spot to hold a retreat, please let them know about St. Paul’s! We’d love to host them.
Quote of the week, inspired by the beautiful colors bursting forth in our garden right now:
The “Amen!” of nature is always a flower. (Oliver Wendell Holmes)
I hope I haven’t forgotten anything! Things are getting pretty busy around here! Have a great weekend!
